[Method] We collected literature in Japan with the keywords “long-term care” and “socialization” and analyzed 33 pieces of literature. [Results] While “improvement of long-term care services” and “awareness of the socialization of long-term care” have progressed, there remain challenges in “reducing the burden of long-term care on the family.”. In addition, in the development process of socialization, the limitations of the long-term care insurance system have been pointed out, and the position of the family and the transformation of the way of long-term care have been discussed. Following this process, the needs for family support have re-emerged and a system for family support has begun to be built.
