Moreover, interviews were conducted with\nrepresentatives of three of the establishments that responded to the survey. The results fell\nunder the following five heads: (1) on average, at least two childcare assistants work in each\nchildcare center in the prefecture; (2) many establishments fav or childcare assistants\nacquiring qualifications; (3) it is preferable for establishments providing childcare to obtain\none’s license in two to three years while studying after the working hours; (4) many childcare\nestablishments encourage assistants to take advantage of corres pondence universities to\nacquire qualifications and that the assi stants should bear the cos ts themselves without\nsubsidy; and (5) factors that hinder the acquisition of qualifications at training schools include\nchildcare assistants’ family situation and geographical challenges.
