This was con- ducted from the perspective of sustainability and based on the latest findings on the endangered water and sewage business in Japan, which will enter an era of depopulation. The biggest challenge of learn- ing about the water and sewage business in social studies at elementary school was that pupils learn entirely from the “current” perspective and there is still enduring social recognition that a “safe and stable” supply is being provided. However, if no change occurs, this “safe and stable” supply will not be possible in the coming era of depopulation.
